"So I was Wrong"

by: Don Groth
Hi sports fans! I hope all is well in your world!
When I'm wrong I admit it. I was 50/50 on my predictions of this past Sunday's games. I was correct in picking the Oakland Raiders over the Tennessee Titans, but I had predicted that the Philly Eagles would win at home against the Tampa Bay Bucs. I have to give credit to the Bucs. They had a great game plan that head coach John Gruden and his staff came up with.
Ex-Viking QB and Denny "BIG EGO" Green cast-off Brad Jounson picked apart the highly regarded Eagle defense with a short passing game and mixing the run in very well to keep the Eagle defense off balance. The Eagles started off great with a 7 to 0 lead but then bottled up and played very conservative and tentative by running many times in obvious passing situations.
It reminded me of when Denny "I'm begging for the 49er job" Green was head coach of the Vikings how he always played not to lose instead of playing to win, especially in BIG games. He never won a big game (he was always out-coached) and that's why I hope he does get the San Francisco head coaching job so we don't have to worry about the 49ers when we play them.
Isn't it interesting how when Green took over the Vikes and proclaimed; "There's a new sherrif in town.", he gave up on both Rich Gannon and Brad Johnson without even giving them a chance! Now look who the two Super Bowl QB,s are this Sunday; Rich Gannon and Brad Johnson, both class guys and good QB's!
Now John Gruden takes on his old team. My prediction is the Oakland Raiders will win the Super Bowl in a close and hard fought game. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
Trivia:
I reported 2 weeks ago that x-Packer QB great Bart Starr holds the record for passes without an interception. What I forgot to put in was how many it was; 294 in the 1964-1965 seasons.
More trivia:
What idiotic statement did X-Viking headcoach Denny Green make after he was fired by the Vikes? Answer: "You'll find me on the high road." WOW! How profound!
Thought of the Week: "Winning isn't everything. It's the only thing!" Hall of Fame and Packer legend headcoaching great Vince Lombardi.
Have a "SUPER" week everybody!
