“Ask Boomer Al”
Issue #15; October 7, 2002
Dear Boomer Al
I look forward to your column every
week. You do a good job. A few
weeks ago a guy wrote in about
investing tips.
My wife and I are considering starting
our own business part time and hope
to go full time eventually. We don’t
have a lot of money to invest; less
than $500. Any hot tips?
Signed Grateful
Dear Grateful,
Thanks for the kind words. I will start
by telling you to never invest on a tip.
It’s the fastest way to poverty I can
think of.
With so little to invest I would suggest
investing it in your education which
will continue to serve you well for
your entire life.
You didn’t mention which business
you are considering but I would suggest
going to the local big time book store
and investing in some good books on
the subject. Buy books from people
who have actually succeeded in business,
not just in writing about it.
You will find at my web site
See Al LeBlanc.Com a gems page that
has a link to my e-book about home
business and a link to Robert Kiyosaki’s
material a little lower on the page.
At your level both will be helpful.
Your mind is the most powerful tool you
have so treat it with respect and feed it
knowledge. Your subconscious mind will
serve you well. Remember it only
responds to information not emotion.
Understanding the nature of this truth
can make you wealthy.
Al
Dear Al,
I caught my husband having an affair
a year ago. We’ve been through counseling
and it’s helped some. I’ve forgiven him
and he has promised never to do it again.
I can’t get it out of my head that every
time he is intimate with me he is thinking
of her. I know her and she is younger and
prettier than I am.
A friend told me this happened to her and
she went out and had an affair of her own
to get back at him and it helped because
it made him jealous and made her feel better.
Don’t think I haven’t considered this. Now
my husband is trying to make me feel guilty
because he says I’m frigid!
Any advice?
Signed Hurt
Dear Hurt,
Pardon my directness but your question took
a lot of the column space. I feel it’s time
for the whole bunch of you to grow up!
First off you haven’t forgiven him in the
least. You’re still very angry and feeling
betrayed and you want to hurt him back so
you probably have been a little cold.
Your friend’s solution is immature and simply
puts her on the fast track to a probable breakup
in her marriage. If this is your goal keep it
up and you will end up in court like she’s
going to eventually with that attitude.
Your self image is not what it should be. We
are attractive from the inside first and it
translates itself into a physical appeal that
overrides physical beauty. When you learn to
love yourself appropriately others will respond
to you in kind.
Your husband was wrong but he seems to have tried
to put it behind you but you won’t let him. I
know it’s hard but if you want to stay married
to this man you must put the past in the past as
difficult as it may seem. A counselor can’t help
people who don’t want to be helped but would rather
revel in their misery and “poor me” attitude.
Life is tough and we sometimes get dealt an
unfortunate hand. The real key is how you play
that hand. Let it go. Your mental gyrations are
going to ruin what little glimmer you have left
in this relationship. True forgiveness requires
adult maturity. Are you up to it?
I think you can do it. Think hard about what you
really want. Revenge or a life.

_.·´¯)What's up with this?(¯`·._
Recent revelations have appeared in the press that
quotes some of the captured terrorists as well as
John Lind that two additional attacks were scheduled
for our nation, each to be more horrific than the
last.
As the national debate over Iraq rages about the
inhumanity of killing innocent people as we take
out Saddam, think about how much the other side is
worried about your children.
Could anthrax have been the second attack which we
managed to contain? Is a dirty nuclear bomb smuggled
into the UN by a courier from another country under
diplomatic cover the next? It could kill millions.
I for one say let the president do what he must. He
has intelligence available to him that none of us
can or should have access to.
On a second point. I was incensed to see the national
distribution of a cartoon on the editorial pages
of our newspapers depicting Secretary Rumsfeld
addressing the President as Hitler. Shame on
Scripts Howard Publishing and all the other outlets
who used this left wing trash.
Our President is a God fearing man who loves his
family and his country. If you don't like his leadership
you'll have another election soon enough. The editorial
staffs of the nations newspapers should hang their
collective heads in shame.
Just my opinion. Don't like it? So tell me off at ...
