Ask Boomer Al
Issue #52; July 7, 2003

Dear Al
I read last week where a female employee was reporting her boss’ alleged sexual harassment. This prompted me to write in as I had a similar encounter with a female co-worker. I am engaged to a lady with whom I had a relationship with at the time.

To make a long story short, this co-worker kept hitting on me, making lewd comments, and inviting me out for a drink constantly. I started saving her notes and emails and turned them in to the Human Resources Department. She is no longer with the company.

It’s not always the guy that does the harassing! I hope the fellow that’s getting threatened with a lawsuit fights it and doesn’t give in. Thanks for listening.
Fighter

Dear Fighter
People should always resist injustice no matter what the circumstances. The facts are however that justice is not always served and sometimes being pragmatic is more important. The other guy owned a business and had much more on the line than a job. Although your comments are true, it is a fact that many more men are guilty of sexual abuse and harassment than women.

There is always room for common sense. Many years ago much of what is called harassment today was called flirting and viewed much more innocently. While many people are indeed being harassed, whole bunches more just need to lighten up a little. Chemistry is hard to fight at times.

We’ve legislated so many issues today that it’s no wonder so much of America’s wealth is found in the legal community. You seemed to have handled your situation effectively.

Dear Boomer Al
We’re back! About a year ago I wrote in about my husband booking us at a “clothes optional” resort. We went and after a couple of days of trying it, it wasn’t bad at all and no big deal.

The feeling of freedom was incredible. Many people from all over the world were there in many shapes and sizes. We had a great time and are planning our next trip. My advice is, don’t knock it until you try it.
No Tan Lines

Dear No Lines
Did you take pictures? One thing I learned at a French beach in the Caribbean many moons ago is that some people definitely need to stay dressed, so I did.

I guess I’m glad you enjoyed your vacation. Somehow the thought of sitting at a picnic table in such a place makes me want to reach for the Lysol spray.

So tell me, in such a resort do you dress to shower and what do you do in the dance club in the evening? Do you carry a pocketbook and where did your husband put his wallet? Were the mosquitoes fat and lazy? And you have to tell me if this was a pet-free resort? Now my curiosity is aroused.
Oh boy. Now I did it!
Al

_.·´¯)What's up with this?(¯`·._

I'm amazed at how the media in general carries nothing but the bad news about Iraq and Afganistan. There are actually some encouraging things happening in both places. We're about to learn a whole lot more about the muslim mind set and why all the successful governments out there are not the result of free elections. I hardly understand why the poeple in general don't stand up to the minority of criminals who are slowing the progress. Fear I guess.

It's July in Florida. When we moved people would say how can you stand the heat in the summer. Well it's actually not as bad as people told us it would be. The breeze off the Atlantic is most pleasant.

In the early days of the Internet I never minded spam that much. It was kind of interesting and new. Well it's really gone nuts this year. The number if viruses getting caught by my virus software is amazing. three to six a day. It's a reflection of how many people are unprotected and resending viruses from their mailing lists without their knowledge. Go to www.anti-virus.com and cut it out please.

Hillary Clinton is single handedly giving the next election to Bush. She has succeeded in stealing the limelight from the unknown twelve. She should become head the the national Republican election team.

My baby brother turns fifty-one this month. You have to be kidding me. Suddenly I'm tired ... of talking about it :)

Just my opinion. Don't like it? So tell me off at ...

She replied ... "Turn sideways and look in the mirror!"
